when most people think of new york, they think bright lights, big city, but some of the students of starling heights high have always dreamed of a different kind of light. the spot light. at starling high everyone wants to be a star. starling heights is known for two things. one being its music curriculum. it has the best high school teachers of music and dance in the city if not the state. the other thing its known for - battle of the bands.

every year starling heights holds a competition for the bands that form on campus as well as bands from other schools in the city. over the years the competition has made or broken bands and their dreams. as well as offering a $10,000 prize and the opportunity to record a professional demo, the competition has played host to many an agent or record company executive. the competition and the school are known for turning ordinary children into super stars.

but what goes on behind the scenes is something that no one ever gets to see, until now. as well as being band members, these kids are also teenagers and high school students. being this young is never easy.. the age of loving and loathing. between gigs and band practice, there's the partys and dating, making friends and enemies. how will they cope with the fast paced world of show business compared to finals and revision.
